Södra Dalarnas Rescue Service Association is responsible for rescue services within the municipalities of Avesta, Hedemora, Fagersta, and Norberg. The organization currently has approximately 45 full-time employees and 100 part-time employees distributed across 6 fire stations. Our focus is primarily on preventing accidents and fires, and therefore all staff participate in preventive work.
Our member municipalities have an interesting risk topography, including heavy steel industry with extensive chemical handling, mining industry, national roads 66, 68, 69, and 70, as well as European road 16, paper and wood industries. Five of the industries are classified as Seveso facilities according to the higher requirement level. Södra Dalarnas Rescue Service Association is part of the Rescue Region Bergslagen (RRB) and its associated management collaboration.
About the role
In this position, located at the Rescue Department, you will be part of our incident commander collective of a total of 7 people. In the role of incident commander, you will work a combination of daytime and shift work according to a specific schedule. Operationally, the incident commander represents management level two within the association, responsible for coordinating the work of individual rescue units as well as overall operational leadership. You should also be able to function as a large sector manager and be part of a staff function. As an incident commander, you will be stationed at the fire station in Avesta. In your role, in addition to operational duties, you will work on planning and development within one or more of the organization's various operational and functional areas. Primarily, you will be responsible for the organization's operational business development.
The operational area responsibilities include, among other things:
- Development of operational support
- Review of incident reporting
- Overall responsibility for our IT support - Daedalos
- Ability to act as project manager and drive projects
- Work across the association
- Budget responsibility
Your qualifications
- Management course for incident commanders or similar older training
- MSB's education in Accident Prevention (SMO) or equivalent
- Supervision A (MSB) or equivalent
- Supervision B (MSB) or equivalent is an advantage.
- Holds a driver's license with at least category B
- Ability to express yourself easily in speech and writing
- Good ability to work independently towards set goals and develop the entrusted operational area
Previous experience as an incident commander/officer within the rescue service or other pedagogical training is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. If you do not meet the basic requirements, your application will not be considered.
